Every new tab, a little piece of the Rare Horse Society. The Rare Horse Times turns your new tab page into the society's newsletter: a beautiful, scrapbook-style page that keeps you in the loop and connected to the rare horse community.

WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT

• Stay in the loop. See upcoming shows, entry deadlines (with a countdown as they get close), society news and reminders each time you open a tab. No emails to dig out. • Feel part of the community. Photos from members and events, a "diary" of what the society has been up to, and tips about people and products worth a look.

• It's easy on the eyes. Warm photos, handwritten notes and a rural New Zealand feel, instead of a blank white page.

• Your browser works exactly as normal. Your tabs, bookmarks and address bar are untouched. There's a search box right at the top that uses your usual search engine, and you can type a web address into it too.

• Always fresh. The society updates the page itself and it changes automatically, with nothing to reinstall.

• Light and private. No accounts, no ads and no tracking. The extension collects nothing about you.

WHO IT'S FOR

Members of the Rare Horse Society of New Zealand, a volunteer society that preserves and protects horses not commonly found in New Zealand, for the sake of their genetic diversity.

A NOTE ON NEW TABS

This extension replaces Chrome's new tab page. If you use another extension that does the same, only one can be active, so you'll need to switch the other one off.

CONTENT

Content may include faces of people and crowds at local events - this is relatively unavoidable. We are happy to remove an image if someone requests, and will do so immediately.

We ensure all images shared have the right to be shared. Do not submit content that you do not own and cannot grant us the right to publish.

Users have to be invited and be members or past members to see the content. The extension is only visible to New Zealanders who have been given access. It is a closed membership based perk for privacy reasons.

The Rare Horse Times is a Chrome extension from the Rare Horse Society of New Zealand.

It shows the society's newsletter and a search box on the browser's new tab page.

What we collect

Nothing. The extension has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics and no tracking. We do not collect, receive, store or share any personal information about the people who use it.

What stays on your device

The extension keeps a temporary copy of the newsletter content, and the last picture it showed, in your browser's own storage so the page opens quickly. This information stays on your computer and is never sent to the society.

Search

Searches typed into the search box are handled by your browser and sent to your own default search engine. The society does not see them. Content from other services The newsletter text is loaded from a Google Sheet, and its pictures come from the society's website. As with any web page, those services receive the usual technical details of the request (such as your IP address) when your browser loads them. The extension does not add anything to this and does not send any information about you. Changes If this ever changes, we will update this page.
