Rare Horse Society is a Record Title Holder in the WorldWide Book of Records
An incredible variety of rare breeds of horses attended our debut display at the Otago Equine Expo Plus in Mosgiel, Dunedin 28 - 29 October 2024. A miraculous 17 horse breeds were in attendance flying the flag to promote the diverse horses in New Zealand.
This event and effort was documented in a video and submitted to set a world record. Our submission was successful and we are the current title holders of the Largest Display of Rare Breeds of Horses!
Certificates and a medal were awarded to the society for its efforts. This is a fantastic start for our budding group. Here's to repeating and beating this again at our future events!

We would like to feature great educational videos, photos of real horses proving their versatility and strengths, accurate preservation status numbers, news on the breeds from NZ and overseas, up to date contacts, links to websites, registries and associated entities for the breeds and more. In some instances placeholder or international images have been used where some nice local horses could be, we use what we can find at the time (hopefully without getting in trouble). We appreciate images supplied if you have any New Zealand based images.
